Eligibility: Candidates
who have passed Higher Secondary (12 yrs) or equivalent with PCM
or related vocational subjects with 70% marks in aggregate (60%
in individual papers). Candidates belonging to BC require 65%;
MBC 55% and SC/ST 40%) marks. Qualifying examinations during March-May
and those appearing in the qualifying exam are eligible to apply.
The Entrance Examination is conducted in the following subjects
of PCM. Candidates are selected on the basis of their performance
in the qualifying exam and entrance test conducted by the University.
Selection Procedure: Admission is made
on the basis of marks obtained in the relevant subjects in the
qualifying examination (HSC or equivalent) and in the Entrance
Examinations, with the weightage of marks 200 and 100 respectively.
Seats are allocates as follows SC 18%, ST 1%, Backward Community
30%, MBC 20% for open competition 31%.
Reservation of seats: GOI nominees 21
Seats; Sportsmen 27 seats. Nominations by Ministry of Defence
2 seats; Children of servicemen / Serving personnel of the State
in Defence Forces 3; Children of freedom fighters 3; Special reservation
60 seats are reserved for those who have contributed to the development
of Muthamizh.
Hostel Facilities: Hostel facilities
are available for both boys and girls separately.
