Higher Secondary School
History
Agarwal Vidyalaya was established
in the year 1980 by the Agarwal Relief and Education Trust.
Humble though the beginning be, our institution has reached
great heights over a period of 21 years, taking one step at
a time. It was initially affiliated to the Central Board of
Secondary Education, New Delhi, but for practical purposes switched
over to the State Matriculation Boards in the year 1997.

At present Agarwal Vidalaya
Matriculation Higher Secondary School has 1207 students nurtured
by many 52 teachers. Our motive to provide qualitative man-making
education that would send well disciplined, responsible, self
reliant and loyal youngsters, excelling both in academics
and co-curricular activities.
Infrastructure &
Face Lift Our Infrastructure houses a KG block, a play pen,
adequately big classrooms for two sections of each class from
1 to XII, three science laboratories, a well equipped library,
a computer Science Laboratory, Multimedia room, two activity
rooms, rooms for fine arts, a staff room and departmental enclosures.
The canteen which continues to function regularly, is an added
advantage for both staff and students.

Ramya of XII Winner of Super Senior Singles Shuttle Badminton with
Principal P.V.Subbalakshmi and P.T.Master Mr.Parthiban.
Manish
It was success all the way for P.Manish who secured Ist Rank
in all the exams conducted in the school right from STD I.
He was regular to school and attentive
in all classes.
His hardwork, perseverence, simplicity
and systematic preparation has paved the way for his success
once again in the Matriculation Examination 2003.
He secured the School First position scoring
1028/1100 (93.45%).
He has to his credit
2 Centums (One in Maths I and one in Science I) and is the
Subject Topper in Maths (199/200), Science (298/300), History
(97/100) and Geography (92/100).
The School conveys its hearty congratulations
and wishes success to this 'gem of a student' for his bright career
ahead.

It has been success all the way for D.M.Shalini who joined
our institution in std VI.
Since then she has been securing a position within the
first three ranks.
She was the subjet topper in Tamil 189/200 and English 168/200
in her Matriculation Board Examination.
She topped in Chemistry 199/200 and Tamil 184/200 in the
XII Board Examination.

Her Achievements:
Won a cash Prize of Rs.300/- in a Thirukkural
recitation competition conducted by 'Mylai Thiruvalluvar Jamizh
Sangam'. Class VIIIWon the Second Prize in a Science based cultural
programme conducted in connection with Natioal Science Day Celebrations
- 2000. Class VIII
Won the first prize in a Science Drama competition
organised in connected with State level Science Fair - 2000 at
Periyar Science and Technology Centre, Chennai. Class IX
Won the Third Prize in ENACT A PLAY - DRAMA titled
'www.genie.com' - South Zone Science Drama Festival held at District
Science Centre, Thirunelveli. Class IX
Won the Third Prize in an English Recitation
Competition conducted by Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama. Class IX
Secured the Fourth Place a Cash Prize of Rs.1000/-
in the Purasai Maths Contest - 2003. Class X
Was one of the students who interviewed the Tamil
actress Mrs.Venniradai Nirmala in a programme 'Chinna Chinna Gnyabagangal'
telecast by Sun News Network. Scored 1015/1100 (92.3%) in Matriculation
Board Examination.

Non Scholastic Activities:

Keeping in mind the overall development
of our students our school pays importance to co-curricular
and extra curricular activities. Apart from academics, Physical
Education, Art Education, Vocal and instrumental music, Chanting,
Dance, Moral Science, Yoga, Computer Science and Community Service
are incorporated at various levels for the different classes.
Regular field trips and educational tours enrich the experience
of our students to a great extent.
The regular literary associations
held for the different subjects aim at tapping the talents of
students who compete in the inter house competitions, in putting
up their best performances.In keeping with the adage 'catch
them young' we do conduct oratorical, recitation, story telling
rangoli and drawing competitions and honor the best among them
on Children's Day.

Computer Lab
Year after year the 'Akara Summer
Camp' exposes interested students to exciting activities like
doll making, Gymnastics, Karate, Pottery Western Dance and Roller
Skating. The Duke of Edinburg Award instituted this year for
students of class IX was thoroughly enjoyed by the students.
Apart from the 3 day camp at Kallar
near Mettupalayam, the students were given special lectures
on 'First Aid', 'Blood Donation' and 'Aids Awareness'. A Blood
Donation camp was organized in the school premises and 20 donors
including 3 teachers came forward to donate the blood.

The Help Club of Agarwal Vidyalaya was revived
yet again and students mobilized adequate cash from selling
old newspapers donated byour students in order to help the needy
orphans in the Seva Chakra Ashram.

Scholarship Limited
numbers of scholarships are available for exceptionally brilliant
children whose family income is low. Such scholarships are awarded
only to the students beyond I standard on an application to the Principal
after paying the first terms fees. Application for grant of scholarship
should reach the principal before 30th June. The decision of the Management
will be final both in regards to the number and quantum of scholarship.
